Wow! You might have to have power on even in a dive with those!

I'll have a total of 56" of flap span counting both sides. STOL contest anyone? Very Happy

Mains and tail wheel are mounted up. I thought that my 6" balloon tires would give it more of a bush plane look but they are about the right size for this monster. The stock wheels would have looked like pylon style pizza cutters.

She might be airborne earlier than I thought. I've found a great deal on a 33% Extra 330l that is ready to fly minus the receiver. The motor is a little larger than I need, 80cc vs. 50cc, but the plane should carry it just fine. The main thing is that it will come with all of the electronics that I need and is from a friend who I know takes good care of his stuff. I'll probably go wring out the Extra and polish up my power plane skills before I scavenge the motor and radio out of it. Should be fun to fly a plane that big for the first time.

I still don't have anything to carry either plane to the field in though. Laughing

There will be an auction going on late this month in Pflugerville and is not far from the field. I always see cars and pickups for sale. Check it out.....you might get a great deal. Here's the link http://www.txauction.com/auction_details.cfm?id=168

Update. Everything is coming together. I have transportation now and the plane is getting close to being ready for covering. On schedule for mid Sept maiden.

Here's a nearly completed wing.

Yep. I plan on ordering covering in the next week and it won't be long after that. Third week of Sept. at the latest.

Did you see that half scale sailplane ARF? Laughing Maybe in November on that one. I wonder how high we could fly something like that before the radar at Bergstrom would pick it up or there was a pilot report of sailplanes in the approach pattern.

This site seems to keep some cheap scale planes in stock. I think they are the same manufacturer as the nitroplanes ARF's.

I'd go large if you can swing it. My tug is going to put out one heck of a prop wash for a 2.5m bird but I'm sure that we could learn to tow either with enough practice. I'll probably set up the Breeze to be towed as well so we can thrash it learning the basics.

That FlyFly DG-808S is the right price and the reviews are more favorable then the 2.5M ones I’ve seen. Apparently someone at Skip Miller Models assembled one for review/sale and they were offered at $400 a few years back. I assume you can only get them from China now. At $315 shipped (???) I’ll put that at the top of my list for now. Looks like 4M should be the minimum I need to be looking for. The main problem seems to be the plastic landing gear mechanism. Some have just removed it altogether for belly landing and takeoff.

Unless I can find a used model (my preference) I’ll pick this one up in the next couple months. What happened to that large scale ship you had setup for electric? Where did you get it? Is that the Breeze you’re talking about?

Crashed the scale bird after the dolly got stuck to the bottom during take off. Found it used at the old Discount Hobbies. The Breeze is my open class beater that I got from Browne. It should do fine behind the tow plane and I'm not really afraid of tearing it up.
